ENVIROSAFE SELF-SEALING SEWER COVER - INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Inspect for damage during shipment and handling. Components are tested for leaks prior to shipment.
Retest or return any damaged units.

2. Remove existing catch basin grate.

3. Clean all debris from existing catch basin grate flange. Surface should be dry and free of any oil, dirt
and scale. If sealing against concrete, check for chipped concrete and cracks. Smooth surface with
grout or epoxy if necessary to provide proper surface for sealing.

4. Surface preparation: Clean underside of the ESSCO Sewer Seal flange and the catch basin grate flange
with industrial solvent such as mineral spirits, naphtha or ketones on a clean oil free rag. Allow surface
to dry thoroughly before applying sealant. Do not use Alcohols to clean.

5. Check for any obstructions along vertical walls in catch basin.

6. Apply two (2) continuous parallel beads of Dow Corning 739 Silastic sealant or equal around the
underside of the ESSCO Sewer Seal flange.

7. Place ESSCO Sewer Seal in catch basin and press in place to spread sealant and seal flange. Smooth out
any excess sealant in the area between the catch basin grate flange and ESSCO Sewer Seal flange.

8. Fill ESSCO Sewer Seal with water to top of overflow pipe.

9. Install the ESSCO Sewer Seal cap over the overflow pipe.

10. Replace the catch basin grate over the ESSCO Sewer Seal. Some grates types, other than flat, may
require modification before they can be installed.

Caution

1. Always inspect the ESSCO Sewer Seal for combustible gases and proper water level before any "Hot Work" is allowed.

2. If combustible gases are detected, remove the ESSCO Sewer Seal cap, flush with water, replace cap and
recheck. If combustible gases are still present, check flange seal.

3. Type 304 stainless steel material has been selected, as the standard material of construction, for its
overall resistance to corrosion and a wide variety of industrial gases and chemicals. However, this
material may not be suitable for use in all environments. Other materials of construction are available
upon request.
